- The PDP chieftain alleged that the APC victimised Governor Obaseki for his refusal to share the state resources to them
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo, Chief Dan Orbih has said that the state “is not the property of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.”
Orbih, a former chairman of the PDP in Edo made the comment in Benin, the state capital on Tuesday, July 21.
The PDP chieftain who is also the zonal chairman of PDP south-south, was speaking at the inauguration of the party's campaign council in the state.
According to him, Governor Godwin Obaseki deserves a second term in office, saying that he has performed very well.
Making further reference to Oshiomhole and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Orbih said:
“Those who initially supported you thinking that your emergence will open the state vault for looting and sharing of our state allocation, you have disappointed them by your refusal to continue with their culture of sharing the money at the expense of developing the state and detriment of the great Edo people.
“I salute your courage. Edo people must be informed that government business is serious business. It is not a simple agenda!
“I sincerely advise that those trying to play God must know that there is only one God. The future of our state is in the hands of Edo people. I urge the good people of Edo state to support and vote Governor Godwin Obaseki for sustainable development and growth of our beloved state.”
Orbih, a grassroots politician has been canvassing support for Governor Obaseki across the state.
With his wide political network as a former chairman of the PDP in the state, he is said to have influence and lot of followers at his beck and call.
Orbih is also a close political ally of the Rivers state governor and chairman of the PDP campaign council in Edo state, Barrister Nyesom Wike.
Recall that Governor Obaseki recently declared that he should have joined the PDP long before he did.
The governor said he had come to realise that the PDP stood for the values he so much cherished and lived for.
He made the comment on Saturday, June 27, while being presented with a certificate of return as the party’s flag bearer for the forthcoming Edo governorship election.
According to him, unlike the APC that pushed them out in the rain and storm at their hours of tribulation, the PDP cared so much for its members.
“In our hours of tribulation, when we were pushed out in the rains and storm from our political party, you came out with that huge umbrella to give us cover and shelter.
“I must thank members of the National Working Committee for the quality of governance, the quality of response that I have witnessed,” Governor Obaseki told PDP leaders at the meeting.
