NDDC probe: Gbajabiamila challenges Akpabio to name lawmakers involved in shoddy deals

As the probes into the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) hit a new dimension, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila has ordered Godswill Akpabio, minister of Niger Delta, to publish names of federal lawmakers fingered in shoddy NDDC contracts.

It would be recalled that Senator Akpabio, who appeared before the House of Representatives committee probing the Niger Delta commission, had alleged that 60% of the NDDC contracts are awarded to the lawmakers from the lower chamber.

Reacting to Akapbio's allegation, Gbajabiamila challenged the minister to publish the names of the lawmakers who are involved in the NDDC contracts.

The lawmaker made this known on Tuesday, July 21, after the need for it was raised by the minority leader, Ndudi Elumelu.

The speaker said the integrity of the House has been brought into disrepute with the allegation, hence calling for the names of the indicted lawmakers to be mentioned.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that what could have turned out to be a tragedy was prevented at the hearing of the House of Representatives committee on the NDDC on Monday, July 20, after Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei slumped while he was being grilled.

Pondei was cross-questioned by members of the House committee on the NDDC over allegations of financial corruption to the tune of N80 billion.

In a related development, Senator Shehu Sani has warned against the enemies within the Niger Delta region as the NDDC probe continues to generate more fuse and fury.
