Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has recorded his name in the history books of football on Monday night, July 20, when he helped his side Huesca to win the Spanish La Liga 2 title.

Huesca recorded the success after beating Sporting Gijon 1-0 to win the title in what was a tough duel for Kelechi Nwakali and his teammates.

Sporting Gijon who ended up 13th on the final standings wanted to avoid defeat in their last game against Huesca.

Nwakali and his teammates needed the win because of the pressure from second placed Cadiz CF who also wanted to win the second division title.

Cristo Gonzalez netted the winning goal for the visitors in the 73rd minute after he was set up by Sergio Gomez.

Nigerian star Nwakali played 90 minutes in this encounter and even had the chance to score at the death, but he missed.

Huesca will now be playing in the Spanish La Liga next season after finishing first on the final table for the 2019/20 second division season.

Nwakali will have the chance to face the likes of Lionel Messi, Eden Hazard, Samuel Chukwueze in the Spanish first division.

This latest achievement is also expected to help Nwakali to get a call up to the Super Eagles under Gernot Rohr.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Nigerian professional football manager Ndubuisi Emmanuel Egbo wrote his name in the history books by becoming the first African coach to win a title with an European side.

This was after the former Super Eagles goalie helped his club Tirana win the 2019/20 Albania League title in remarkable style.

Egbo and his wards are also in the final of the Albania Cup and this could be another landmark achievement for the 46-year-old if his side should win it.

Tirana fans are all in joyous momentum with this latest achievement which they have been waiting for over the past 11 years.

The result means Tirana currently on 69 points are now seven points ahead of Kukesi who are on 62 points with two games left to play.
