The death of Mallam Ismaila Isa Funtua, a longtime friend and associate of President Muhammadu Buhari, has caused much pain to the Nigerian leader.
President Buhari in reaction to Funtua's passing condoled with the deceased's family, government, and people of Katsina state over the death of the Second Republic minister.
This was disclosed in a tweet by Bashir Ahmad, a personal assistant on new media to the president, via his verified Twitter handle, @BashirAhmaad.
While expressing sadness over the news, the president prayed to Allah for the repose of his soul and to grant the family strength and fortitude to bear the loss.

"President Buhari condoles with family members, government and people of Katsina State on the passing of his longtime friend and associate, Mal. Ismaila Isa Funtua. The President prays to Allah for repose of his soul and to grant the family strength & fortitude to bear the loss," the tweet read.
Recall that Funtua died of cardiac arrest on Monday, July 20. His death was also confirmed by a presidential aide in a tweet.
Until his death, he was the chairman of Bulet Construction company. He will be buried according to Islamic rites Tuesday, July 21.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that President Buhari mourned the death of Tolulope Arotile, Nigeria's first female combatant helicopter pilot.
President Buhari on his official Twitter page condoled with the deceased's family, describing the late officer as a promising person "whose short stay on earth impacted greatly on the nation, especially in peace and security."
Nigeria's number one citizen saluted "Arotile's bravery in the field to protect the country from onslaught of bandits and terrorists, assuring that her memory will be indelible, and her efforts remembered."
In other news, President Buhari commiserated with Burundi over the death of President Pierre Nkurunziza who died of a heart attack aged 55 years.
In a tweet on his official Twitter handle on Tuesday evening, June 9, Buhari expressed grief and sadness over the passing of the Burundian president.
Buhari described the death as a great loss for the community of Africa and Burundi, considering the wisdom and effort Nkurunziza brought to the East Africa country during its turbulent time.
