Kanye West wants everyone who has a baby to get N388m ($1m) "or something in that range". Kanye was speaking at his first presidential campaign rally in North Charleston, South Carolina on Sunday, July 19.

Sunday was the last day before the state's deadline to file signatures as an independent candidate. The rapper spoke shortly after 5pm at the Exquis Event Center rally.

The rapper is going up against President Donald Trump and presidential hopeful Joe Biden in his quest to become the second black president in the US.

ABC News reports that Kanye's speech touched on a wide range of topics, from his battle with opioids to his business dealings with Adidas, before elaborating on his pro-life stance.

Kanye said that he thinks abortion should be legal, but that there should be more support for those who need it.

"The maximum increase would be everybody that has a baby gets a million dollars or something in that range."

The publication also reports that Kanye expressed that weed "should be free" and took questions from the audience before the hour-long event ended.

Kanye requires 10,000 signatures in South Carolina to get on the presidential ballot as an independent candidate. The state does not allow write-in candidates on the ballot.

In other Kanye news, Legit.ng reported that the father of four had submitted the second sets of documents with the Federal Election Commission for his presidential race.

The latest document which he submitted showed he had spent more than N1.9m ($5,000) on campaign-related expenses, making him qualified for candidacy status under the federal campaign law.

The musician listed his Cody and Wyoming residences. The Wyoming residence is a huge property that Kanye and his wife recently purchased.

Kanye has also submitted his organisation's statement for his campaign, which is considered a very important document. The document revealed that the rapper's 2020 team will serve as the Principal Campaign Committee.

The Runaway hitmaker listed his party as the Birthday Party and calls his committee Kanye 2020.
