Unai Emery has agreed to become the new manager of La Liga side Villarreal after many months without a job.
Present boss of the Yellow Submarines Javier Alberola helped the club finish in fifth place on the table and qualify for next season's Europa League tournament.
Villarreal thrashed Eibar 4-0 in their final game of the season and Alberola was asked if he would continue to lead the side in the future.
"I do not talk about my future.
"What happens will be decided by the club. I have a good relationship with the club, and I am grateful for the opportunity Villarreal have given me.
"I will continue to work hard for Villarreal, and let others make the decisions."
Emery has been out of job since November 2019 when he was sacked as manager of Arsenal after a poor run of form at the Emirates.
The Spaniard took over from legendary Gunners boss Arsene Wenger in May 2018, and led the club to the Europa League final and a fifth-place finish in the Premier League.
Emery was replaced by Freddi Ljungberg on interim basis before Mikel Arteta was signed as permanent manager for the north London club.
Villarreal have been in superb form since action resumed after the three months break losing only to Barcelona, Real Madrid and Real Sociedad.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Nicolas Pepe joined Arsenal for £72million in 2019, but former Arsenal manager Unai Emery has stated that he was forced to sign the Ivorian international, SunSport reports.
The ex-Gunners' boss claimed that he had wanted the £120million Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha who he claimed he was in talks with.
Pepe has not been impressive since joining the Emirates club as he has only managed just 6 goals in 32 matches for the club in all competitions.
