- PDP has accused Ize-Iyamu of stealing manifesto
- The party said that Ize-Iyamu stole the simple agenda Don-Pedro used in 2015
- Ize-Iyamu is the candidate of APC for the incoming governorship election in Edo state
Ahead of the governorship election slated for Saturday, September 19, in Edo state, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has accused the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osagie Ize-Iyamu, of stealing the simple agenda used by a gubernatorial candidate, Don-Pedro, in 2015.
Legit.ng reports that the PDP said Ize-Iyamu's agenda for the incoming election was copied from Don-Pedro's Simple agenda in 2015.
Don-Pedro had in 2015 noted while featuring in a TV programme that he would provide security, infrastructure, manpower development, public/private partnership, leadership by example and employment for the youth of the state.
He said: "Edo is supposed to be a breadbasket of the nation. I use the word simple, security, infrastructure, manpower development, public/private partnership, leadership by example and employment for the youth."
The PDP, however, urged the people of the state to reject Ize-Iyamu at the poll, adding that plagiarism is stealing.
"Edo2020: Busted-Ize-Iyamu stole the “Simple” agenda from Don-Pedro in 2015. Take a listen to Don Pedro, explaining his “simple” agenda. Edo people, judge for yourself before you go to the poll on September 19, 2020. Plagiarism is stealing, ole," the party said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the political battle preceding the Edo governorship election took another dimension as parties continued to drag their opposition into disrepute in a bid to gain the heart of the state.
It was reported that the guber election in the south-south state is scheduled to hold in September by the Nigerian electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The APC said the governor would be defeated in the forthcoming poll and be put to shame, sensing Godwin Obaseki's political might.
Reacting to a statement earlier credited to the PDP in which the National Campaign Council (NCC) of the APC was said to have approached NEXIM Bank for $500 million loan to run the election, the ruling party stressed that its flagbearer Osagie Ize-Iyamu will emerge victoriously.
In another report, the ruling PDP in Edo state declared that it would make rigging impossible for the APC and its candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu during the incoming governorship election in the state.
The party in a thread of tweet on Thursday, July 9, said that the APC should desist from its plots to rig the Edo election, saying that the people of the state would firmly resist it.
The party asked members of the APC to blame themselves for their current woes and get ready to accept their inevitable crushing defeat at the poll.
