Cristiano Ronaldo was lucky not to have been shown a red card during Juventus’s 3-3 thriller against Sassuolo in the Italia Serie A on Wednesday night, July 15.
The frustrated Portuguese had hoped to smash yet another record with a goal, but his night was awful as he made a terrible challenge on Francesco Magnanelli with his studs-up.
Referee Paolo Valeri merely booked the player, who was perhaps showing his frustration as Sassuolo had turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead.

But Ronaldo had to wait until later on for the main exception to his own quiet night, his twinkling footwork conjuring a fierce shot well saved by home keeper Andrea Consigli.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo made history in every club he has featured in and has gone on to score an unprecedented 728 goals in the course of his career over the last 20 years.
Fierce rival, Lionel Messi, hit a major milestone in his football career after becoming the latest player to record 700th senior team goals when he scored from the spot against Atletico Madrid.
He also found the net in the La Liga on the the same night with a ferocious strike from outside the area in Juventus’ 3-1 win over Genoa.
However, top German outlet Transfermarkt has published the full list of top scorers this century.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Juventus superstar Ronaldo has thrown himself in the Serie A's golden boot race for the 2019/20 season with 28 goals and with six games to end the season.
Before the Leagues in Europe were all suspended, Ronaldo was nowhere in the race for the golden boot, but the Portuguese oiled his engine well during the lockdown.
His superb training during lockdown however helped him when football returned as Ronaldo has scored seven goals in six games.
And with six games to end the term, the former Real Madrid star has now pilled pressure on leading scorer Ciro Immobile who has scored just one goal more than Ronaldo.
