The political battle in Edo state is getting intense with accusations and counter-accusations as the September governorship election draws nearer.
The media aide to Governor Godwin Obaseki, Crusoe Osagie, has reacted to the allegations that his principal is harassing members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Osagie said the allegations that some persons were being harassed to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was mere propaganda.
He, however, claimed that the PDP is accepting thousands of new members from the APC and other parties such that the party ran out of membership cards over the unprecedented demands by thousands of Obaseki’s supporters.
His words: “To address the growing demand for PDP membership cards, the party’s hierarchy had to place orders for the mass production of PDP membership cards through several vendors.
“This exodus of people into the PDP was widely reported in the media. So why would a well-established party like the PDP, with tested structures and verifiable track records for electoral triumphs in Edo state, harass anyone desiring to leave the party?
“The APC is in a dilemma and working hard at deflecting attention away from the credibility crisis it is engulfed in, with the status of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.”
