Paul Pogba appears to have made a u-turn on his decision to leave Manchester United as the Frenchman is reportedly close to agreeing a new five-year extension.

The midfielder's initial deal expires next summer after re-joining the Red Devils from Juventus in the club's record move in 2016.

He has been constantly linked with a move away from the club, with Real Madrid and former team, Juve showing interest in signing him.

However, his partnership with new boy Bruno Fernandes seems to be delightful for the World Cup winner and has had a change of mind about leaving Old Trafford.

Pogba who spent most of the season on the sidelines owing to a nagging ankle injury has enjoyed enough game time since the return of football after coronavirus lockdown was lifted in June.

And this seems to have given United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer such confidence that Pogba will remain at the club beyond next summer as reported by SunSport.

The midfielder has been superb since he got back into the Red Devils' starting XI except for a few errors in heir 2-2 draw against Southampton earlier in the week.

Reports from Old Trafford revealed that the Norwegian born tactician was already planning for the future without Pogba until a change in attitude and form was noticed.

Solskjaer said: “I’ve been speaking more or less every day with Paul. He knows he wouldn’t be dropped.

When Paul plays like this, he wouldn’t be dropped from any team in the world — France or Manchester United — but he’s been out for a long, long time.

The £89million record signing has a clause on his deal which could make United extend his stay by another year after the expiration of his contract.

But, there is is a belief on both sides that a new deal would finally end any doubts about his future.

Meanwhile, teenage sensation Mason Greenwood may be out of his side's game against Crystal Palace due to an ankle injury but Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams are both fit despite knocks. earlier reported that Paul Pogba has left nursing face injuries after he was completely destroyed' by Man United teammate Victor Lindelof during a training session.

The Red Devils who are in the sensational form are due to return to action on Monday, July 13, when they take on Southampton at Old Trafford.
