Real Madrid continue their steady progress towards lifting their first Spanish League title this season following their 2-1 win over Granada at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes.

The victory ensured that Los Blancos maintain their four points gap over arch-rivals Barcelona with just two games left to play this campaign.

Coach Zinedine Zidane's men started their high-pressing strategy early enough and it paid off as two quick goals from Ferland Mendy and Karim Benzema made all the difference for the visitors.

The Galacticos took the lead just after ten minutes of action with a thunderous shot from the defender putting the visitors ahead.

Mendy got the Casemiro at the edge of the 18-yard box, pretended like he was going to pass but pushed the ball into the danger zone before unleashing the shot into the roof of the net.

Despite finding the back of the net early enough, Real continued to ask more questions from their hosts, and in no time, they got another answer.

This time, it was Benzema who fired into the right side of the net a delightful curly shot from the left flank as the away team doubled their lead just before the first 20 minutes of the fixture.

The 33rd time La Liga champions stayed on course with their leadership on the table as they continued to hope for more goals but none showed up from either side until the end of the half.

However, the home team woke up from their slumber five minutes into resumption with Darwin Machis reducing his side's deficit in the 50th minute.

It was a promising and motivating goal for the hosts but they were unable to complete the comeback after a regulation period.

Meanwhile, Madrid will hope they hold on to their lead until the end of the season and then lift their 34th La Liga glory.

Zidane's men face Villarreal at Santiago Bernabeu in their next match and then wrap up the season with a trip to Leganes.

Los Blancos are definitely not going to allow any slip up with just three matches to wrap up the 2019-20 season after Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio scored a goal each in either half.

Frenchman Benzema opened scoring for the Galacticos through the spot in the 11th minute following a foul on Rodrygo at the edge of the box down the left flank.
