As the plot to impeach the deputy governor of Ondo state, Ajayi Agboola, thickens, it appears he has also not found a comfortable political home in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to The Nation, some chieftains of the PDP want the deputy governor to be disqualified from participating in the governorship primary.
The PDP leaders accused Ajayi of conniving with Kingsley Chinda who served as the secretary of the party's ward congresses electoral committee to manipulate the delegates list for the primary election.
They alleged that over 101 fake delegates were smuggled into the adhoc delegates’ list of the PDP.
Speaking on behalf of the chieftains, Bitire Solomon alleged that the list being paraded by the party would be rejected before the primary.
Bitire insisted that Ajayi must be disqualified for fraudulently injecting 101 fake delegates into the Adhoc delegates list of Ondo State PDP in collusion with Chinda.
He also called for the immediate arrest of Chinda.
The deputy governor's spokesperson, Babatope Okeowo, has, however, dismissed the allegations. He said it was unfair to call for the disqualification of his boss who has refused to join issues with other PDP aspirants.
In a related development, the Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has reacted to rumours that he was disqualified from taking part in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary slated for Monday, July 20.
Akeredolu in reaction to the reports declared that he is still in the Ondo state gubernatorial race.
The governor disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, July 12, in Akure via Ojo Oyewamide his senior special assistant on media and publicity.
Oyewamide explained that the rumour was a ploy to deceive and distract supporters of the incumbent Ondo state governor.
While noting that the rumour was aimed at diverting attention from the self-imposed pains of those behind the story, Oyewamide urged all supporters of the governor to be focused.
