Sir Alex Ferguson 14 years ago lost £400 bet to Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo in 2006/07 Premier League season.

During 2006/07 Premier League season, Cristiano Ronaldo just returned from the World Cup with Portugal in Germany where they failed to win the title.

And before the season started, Sir Alex Ferguson told Cristiano Ronaldo that he won't be able to score 15 Premier League goals at the end of the term.

According to the report on Daily Star, Cristiano Ronaldo was moved with such challenge and told his manager that he would score more than 15 and they took a bet.

Sir Alex Ferguson took the bet with Cristiano Ronaldo so as to boost his morale in giving superb performances for Manchester United.

And as expected from the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo did not disappoint as he won the bet with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Before December 2006, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 13 Premier League goals for Manchester United and claimed then that he wanted to score more.

Manchester United beat Spurs 4-0 on February 4 in which Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 15th goal of the season in the encounter.

At the end of the season, Ronaldo finished the season with 17 goals and won the bet against Sir Alex Ferguson.

Cristiano Ronaldo later left Manchester United for a move to Real Madrid where he also achieved big before joining Juventus last two seasons.
