The political battle preceding the Edo governorship election has taken another dimension as parties continue to drag their opposition into disrepute in a bid to gain the heart of the state.
The guber election in the south-south state is scheduled to hold in September by the Nigerian electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Sensing Godwin Obaseki's political might, All Progressive Congress (APC) said the governor will be defeated in the forthcoming poll and be put to shame.

Reacting to a statement earlier credited to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in which the National Campaign Council (NCC) of the APC was said to have approached NEXIM Bank for $500 million loan to run the election, the ruling party stressed that its flagbearer Osagie Ize-Iyamu will emerge victoriously.
“The irresponsible, senseless and reckless allegations of the PDP would have been ignored, if the issues involved are not so weighty.
"Any person familiar with the rudiments of financial transactions by banks knows that no bank worth its operating licence will provide a facility of that magnitude, without documentation and a long paper trail," part of the response read.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that as intrigues continue to highlight the forthcoming Edo election, a group of unknown people has placed the video of Governor Umar Ganduje of Kano state pocketing dollars on a big billboard.
The Kano governor was in 2018 embroiled in a corruption scandal after a video surfaced appearing to show him pocketing dollars in what was said to be bribe from public works contractors.
The governor could be seen collecting the dollars before rolling them into his white dress, “babariga,” in one of a series of questionable deals allegedly struck over a span of several months.
Ahead of the gubernatorial election in Edo state, the scandalous video has been put on a big billboard where it can be seen by commuters and motorists.
A social activist, Deji Adeyanju shared the video on his Twitter account on Thursday, July 9.
