The side recently hammered Aston Villa 3-0 to become the first Premier League club to win four consecutive matches by a three-goal margin.
And like every fan, Ferguson is said to be delighted with United's progress and has been in constant touch with Solskjaer.
Metro UK citing The Mirror reports Fergie is also thrilled by the emergency of academy graduates Mason Greenwood and Scott Mctominay.
According to a source who worked with the legendary manager, the Scotsman is keen to return to Old Trafford once it is safe.
"Alex has been enjoying the recent weeks of football’s return and the way United have emerged from lockdown," the source was quoted saying.
"But he’s been delighted the way Solskjaer is managing the team and I believe they have spoken a couple of times in the last few weeks," the source continued.
McTominay was spectacular earlier in the campaign and he has played a supporting role in recent weeks.
Greenwood, on the other hand has been in sensational scoring form since the restart and has already formed an important part of Ole's striking force.
