Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly has confirmed that Nigerian star Victor Osimhen has been in talks with him ahead of a proposed move to Napoli this summer.
The 21-year-old prolific striker has been on the Serie A radar as a quality replacement for Arkadiusz Milik who could leave the club at the end of the season.
Osimhen announced himself to the world after scoring 18 goals and six assists in all competitions for Lille.
Apart from Napoli, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Chelsea and a few others were said to have been interested in the attacker.
But Gennaro Gattuso's side appears more serious for secure the player's signature just one season into his contract in France.
Koulibaly said the Nigerian is enquiring about life in the city especially racism but the 2019 AFCON silver medal winner assured him of his safety.
Complete Sport reports that Napoli have offered the Super Eagles forward five-year contract to lure him to Naples but are yet to get a positive response from the 21-year-old.
There are reports Osimhen is not too keen on a move to Napoli due to racism concerns.
“It is true that he called me. We talked about racism, I told him that coming to Naples he won’t have these problems, he will choose the right city,” Koulibaly told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I too felt the bitterness of the racist insult, but never in Naples. I reassured him, I told him that if he comes, he will have the best choice. Then, the rest will have to be done by the leaders.”
Osimhen broke into the country's national team in 2017 and has bagged four goals for himself in nine appearances across competitions.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Victor Osimhen recently rejected a mega move to join Italian side Napoli with his agent Osita Okolo claiming that the Super Eagles star did due to private reason.
There was high expectation when the 21-year-old ahead of a possible summer move.
But at the long run, no deal was agreed and the Nigerian striker moved back to France where he currently plays for French Ligue 1 side Lille.
