- Victor Osimhen is a Nigerian player who currently plays for Lille in France
- The Super Eagles striker may be joining Italian club Napoli this summer
- Joining Napoli will make Victor Osimhen the club's costliest player ever in history
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen recently rejected a mega move to join Italian side Napoli with his agent Osita Okolo claiming that the Super Eagles star did that based on private reason.
There was high expectation when Victor Osimhen was spotted in Italy where he went to have talks with Napoli chiefs over a possible summer move.
But at the long run, no deal was agreed and the Nigerian striker moved back to France where he currently plays for French Ligue 1 side Lille.
However, there is a latest development on Victor Osimhen as Napoli are still optimistic that the Nigerian could make a u turn and join them this summer.
This is after Napoli gaffer Gattusso explained that his first striker Arkadiusz Milik wants to leave the club this summer.
And should he leave this summer, then Napoli will have to enter the transfer market to buy another striker before the start of next season.
Victor Osimhen could eventually move to Napoli in a €80m deal which will make him the costliest signing in the club's history which will be a great achievement.
Highest Napoli have paid so far for a new player was €39 million for the transfer of Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid in 2013.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Victor Osimhen is currently on the radar of several European clubs with Italian giants Inter Milan the latest, as reports have it that the Serie A club have made a €80 million bid for the striker.
Lille president Gerard Lopez earlier confirmed that there are ongoing negotiations between the French side and Italian giants Napoli over the transfer of Nigerian star.
Osimhen is one of the sought-after strikers in Europe considering his superb performances for Lille since he replaced Ivorian star Nicolas Pepe.
But despite all the clubs who have shown interest to sign the lad, Napoli are closing-in on the player’s signature but now rivals Inter have reportedly made a bid.
