One of the victims of the processes of impeaching the deputy governor of Ondo, Agboola Ajayi, is the deputy speaker of the state's House of Assembly, Ogundeji Iroju.
Other members of the Assembly that were suspended are Adewale Williams of Ondo West Constituency II and Semilore Tomomewo of Ilaje II Constituency, This Day reports.
The suspension of the lawmakers was contained in a document signed by the legislature's deputy majority leader, Oladiji Adesanmi, and the parliamentary secretary, Abayomi Akinruntan.
Reacting to the development, Ajayi, in an open letter to the chief judge of Ondo, Justice Olanrewaju Akeredolu, called on her not to compromise the integrity of the office in the whole process and plot to impeach him.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the alleged moves to impeach Ajayi reportedly suffered a setback as the impeachment meeting failed to hold.
The impeachment meeting which was scheduled for the VIP lodge of the government house failed to hold as only nine out of the 19 invited members of the assembly were present.
The newspaper reports that another meeting has, however, been scheduled on Monday, June 29, for another venue.
Legit.ng gathered that those who want the deputy governor impeached following his defection to the PDP are optimistic that their plan would soon be executed successfully.
Reacting to the development on Sunday, June 28, Ajayi's media aide, Allen Sowore, commended the lawmakers for being courageous not to be part of the alleged impeachment plot.
He called on the security agencies and the people of Ondo state to be watchful of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu's alleged moves to illegally remove the deputy governor.
For Ajayi and his estranged boss, Governor Akeredolu, the battle was not yet over after the governor came hard on his deputy amid clashes of political interests that have run a train between the two former brothers.
