- The APC has screened Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu ahead of its primary

Twelve governorship aspirants jostling for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state were on Wednesday, July 8, screened ahead of the party's primary election.
According to The Nation, the incumbent governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, alongside Olusola Iji, Chief Odimayo Okunjimi, Chief Olayide Adelaml, Chief Isaac Kekemeke, and Chief Olusola Oke have already been screened in Abuja.
Other guber aspirants expected to appear for screening at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday, July 9, are lfeoluwa Oyedele, Olajumoke Anifowoshe, Awodeyi Akinsehinwa, Akinola Colinus, Olubukola Olarogba, Okunola Adetula, Dr. Segun Abraham and Dr. Nathaniel Adojutelegan.
Akeredolu commended the process of the exercise and the committee members in a post he shared on his social media platforms ahead of the primary scheduled to be held on Monday, July 20.
According to him, the screening committee members were very professional and courteous. He added that the party made an excellent choice.
It would be recalled that the APC resolved to stick to the indirect mode of primary to produce its candidate in Ondo state.
The APC caretaker committee led by Governor Mai Mala Buni resolved to stick to the indirect primary mode which had earlier been adopted by the dissolved NWC and conveyed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the sum of N258.27 million was made by the APC from the purchase of expression of interest and nomination forms to aspirants expected to contest in the party’s governorship primaries in Ondo state.
The eleven male governorship aspirants purchased the expression of interest and nomination forms each for N22.5 million. The only female aspirant, however, paid N11.25 million for the interest and nomination form.
The expression of interest form was sold at N2.5 million while the nomination form went for N20 million, as stipulated in the party’s guidelines.
In other news, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has screened Ondo state deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi and eight others for the primary election.
Other aspirants who appeared for the screening on Thursday, July 2, were Eyitayo Jegede, Boluwaji Kunlere, Eddy Olafeso, Ben Banji Okunomo, Bode Ayorinde, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, Godday Erewa and Sola Ebiseni.
