Ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resolved to stick to the indirect mode of primary to produce its candidate.
The Nation reports that the APC caretaker committee led by Governor Mai Mala Buni resolved to stick to the indirect primary mode which had earlier been adopted by the dissolved NWC and conveyed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party has also commenced screening its 12 aspirants at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja on Wednesday, July 8.
Legit.ng gathers that the ruling party has screened six of its aspirants so far. Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu led the pack of contenders screened by the committee.
After being screened, the Ondo state governor commended members of the screening committee, saying they were thorough, professional and courteous.
The governor tweeted: "I have just undergone screening by my party @OfficialAPCNg. Members of the committee were thorough, scrutinizing all documents amongst other questions.
"I believe the party made excellent choices of the committee members. Very professional and courteous."
Other aspirants screened on Wednesday are: Amb. Joseoh Olusola Iji; Chief Odimayo Okunjimi; Chief Olayide Owolabi Adelaml; Chief Issacs Kekemeke Duerlminl and Chief Olusola Oke.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Ondo deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, declared that the plot by some members of the state house of assembly to impeach him won't succeed.
Ajayi made the comment when he spoke to Sahara Reporters on Monday, July 6. He said he had yet to be served the impeachment notice by the state lawmakers, adding that he considers the impeachment notice as a rumour.
His words: “It is a kangaroo impeachment notice and it is even dead on arrival and I don't know how the Assembly wants to go about it.
“I have not been officially served a copy of the impeachment notice and people are already reporting it.”
