Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, has taken his pound of flesh back on Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano following the latter's "isolation centre" comment.

In what started as a political jibe highlighting the campaign into the Edo state gubernatorial election, Governor Ganduje had said that his Rivers counterpart will be "isolated" till the end of the election.

The Kano governor, who is the chairman of the All progressives Congress (APC) 49-man national campaign council, also vowed that Governor Godwin Obaseki will be humiliated in the forthcoming poll.

He further warned that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) does not have any political feeling or affiliation with Governor Obaseki but is interested in the treasury of Edo state.

But in his reaction, Wike who is the chairman of Obaseki campaign council for Edo election said “antics and shenanigans” cannot distract PDP from taking over the south-south state.

The Rivers governor said Ganduje should be the one in the isolation centre because he was caught red-handed pocketing dollars in his babariga cloth.

"Nobody can intimidate us for this election. Yesterday (Monday), I read on the pages of newspapers that one Gov. Ganduje said that he was going to isolate me until the election is over.

"If Nigeria is supposed to be a country, who is supposed to be isolated? So, Ganduje, your dollar will not work in Edo state, we have integrity in our party," Wike submitted.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the reelection bid of Godwin Obaseki has been handed a massive boost as hundreds of Action Democratic Party (ADP) members defected to PDP in Edo state.

It would be recalled that the Edo governor defected to PDP after falling down the pecking order of the political hierarchy of the APC.

Now, hundreds of ADP members have joined the train of Obaseki's teeming legion of supporters ahead of the state governorship election.

According to Vanguard, the ADP defectors are from Egor, Ovia Southwest and Ovia Northeast local government areas of the state.
