Nigeria, just like many African countries, has a lot of belief in traditional things and many misfortunes a person faces are usually first termed spiritual before a solution is found for them.
Well, more often than not, these problems are not always spiritual and there are ways to go about solving them. In Nigeria, a number of people regard going for therapy as something only white people do.
It is also believed by many that those who are mentally unstable are the ones who need to speak to a therapist. Well, Nigerian ex-beauty queen and businesswoman, Dabota Lawson, has taken to social media to speak on the importance of going for therapy.
The mother of one said that many Nigerians disregard the importance of therapists. According to her, many things can cause an individual to behave the way they do and that includes trauma from childhood.
Explaining further, Dabota explained that some people do not even understand why they are triggered by a particular word when it is used in reference to them.
The former beauty queen said that a good therapist will do a lot of good and that they are not meant for mad people.
She wrote: “If only people knew how important it is to see a therapist once in a while. Nigerians especially disregard the importance of a therapists. sometimes trauma from childhood, teenage and the early stages of your adult hood can really affect you. Some people don’t even understand why a particular word when used in reference to them triggers ill feelings.
