The fight against insurgency was on Thursday, July 2, handed a massive boost as troops of Operation Lafiya Dole destroyed the meeting base of Boko Haram terrorists in Borno state.
In a video shared by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) via a tweet on Friday, July 3, terror was unleashed on the insurgents' base located at Mainyakare area of Sambisa forest by NAF fighter jets.
In the cause of the precision bomb strike, many Boko Haram members were annihilated while the designated targets were seen in flames.
"The ATF of Operation Lafiya Dole dispatched a force package of NAF fighter jets to attack a meeting venue of BHT at Mainyakare in Sambisa Forest.
"The jets recorded a precision bomb strike on the designated target having several BHT fighters neutralized," Defence Headquarters captioned the video of the bomb attack.
In related news, the Nigerian military said its troops of Operation Whirl Stroke and Special Forces of Sector 2 deployed in Zaki Biam neutralised a criminal hideout off Zaki Biam and Katsina-Ala highway in Benue state.
In a statement by the John Enenche, coordinator of defence media operations, on Friday, May 8, the force said the "special commando operation" led to the neutralization of Terugwa Igbagwa alias Orjondu.
Items recovered from the notorious kidnapper include one AK 47 rifle, one locally made rifle, one AK 47 magazine with 30 rounds of 7.62mm special and some charms.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the fight against insecurity was partly punctured on Saturday, June 27, as nine men of the Nigerian military troops were annihilated during a suspected ambush attack in Borno state.
According to the Joint Task Force (JTF) and security sources, the attack was carried out on Damboa/Maiduguri highway about 60 kilometres from Maiduguri in Konduga council area.
