John Obi Mikel have been linked with newly-promoted Serie A club Benevento, reports Completesports.com.
The Wizards are looking to add experience into their squad after recently gaining promotion for the send time in their history to play in the Italian top-flight division.
According to Italian news media outfit Gianlucadimarzio, Benevento have confirmed their interest in signing Mikel, who is a free agent after leaving Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor in March.

The 33-year-old left Trabzonspor by mutual consent in after expressing his concerns about the Turkish Super Lig continuing amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
Benevento first appearance in the Serie A was in the 2017/18 season but were relegated in the same campaign.
The side managed by former AC Milan and Juventus striker Filippo Inzaghi are also looking to add Mikel’s former Chelsea team-mate Loic Remy to their squad for the 2020/21 campaign.
The former Super Eagles captain who made 368 appearances for Chelsea between 2006 and 2017, has also been linked with Brazilian clubs Internacional and Botafogo as well as a move to Mexico.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Ogenyi Onazi has revealed how he helped Anthony Nwakaeme and John Mikel Obi secure contracts with his former club Trabzonspor.
The Super midfielder who left the Turkish giants in January 2020, to Denizlispor open up that the Turkish giants asked for his opinion before handing his countrymen their respective contracts.
