- Barcelona have made financial blunders in the last six years amounting up to £1billion
- Only four players are still in the first team including Suarez, Rakitic and Ter Stegen
- The likes of Griezmann, Coutinho and Dembele have been their record signings
Barcelona have been counting their losses for years and the club have spent £1billion on players with only a few of them making headway at the Camp Nou.
Since 2014, only Luis Suarez, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Ivan Rakitic are still relevant to the club's first team till date.
Suarez was scooped for £75m from Liverpool after so many troubles with authorities in the Premier League and the 2014 World Cup.
On the other hand, Rakitic cost just £15m from Sevilla six years ago while goalkeeping sensation Ter Stegen was even less at just shy of £11m from Bundesliga side Monchengladbach.
Players that joined the club after 2014 have cost the club 10 times more and have done little to contribute to their Barca's desire to win trophies.
The football star who have been sold have brought a return of £665.64m - £330.86m less than what they spent.
In 32 deals that have been completed by La Blaugrana including the four players that arrived last summer, the club have spent £996.5m, £3.5m in making it a billion.
But the team have struggled more than the side that welcomed Suarez to the Catalan side in the summer of 2014.
The likes of club legends including Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Dani Alves, Neymar and Javier Mascherano, have not been replaced since they left.
Antoine Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele are among the big signings that arrived at Catalonia.
Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu have spent more than they have brought in transfer fees over the last six years despite the huge exits of the likes of Neymar, Arthur and Alexis Sanchez.
