- Piers Morgan's secret admiration for Lionel Messi has been exposed despite his support for Cristiano Ronaldo
- The British presenter's tweet about the Barcelona star was made open about England legend Gary Lineker
- Lineker and Morgan went neck-to-neck at on the Messi vs Ronaldo debate on social media recently
Piers Morgan once tweeted that Lionel Messi is the greatest footballer ever despite his underlying love for Cristiano Ronaldo.
England legend Gary Lineker exposed the Good Morning Britain's tweet after both personalities clashed on social media recently.
Morgan has a memorable interview with Ronaldo in 2019 where he gushed over the Juventus striker and put to bed the Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi debate.
Anyone who follows Lineker on Twitter will know the Match of the Day host is a big fan of Messi.
On the other hand, Lineker who hosts Match of the Day is a fan of Messi and disagrees with his counterpart about Ronaldo being the best.
Morgan tweeted: "Message to Ronaldo fans: When I tweet about the brilliance of Messi, it doesn't mean I don't admire Ronaldo."
Lineker immediately responded to the tweet: "Fabulous goal, breathtaking footballer, but you really should start watching football before making silly statements."
Alongside his own tweet, he included a video compilation of Messi scoring stunners.
Then Morgan hit back at Lineker: "I've watched a lot of football and won as many League titles and International trophies as you. (You didn't even win one at Barcelona!)"
Lineker then replied: "Again, factually incorrect. I won the old second division (Championship) with Leicester City."
The England World Cup legend then looked for something humorous and found something interesting to hit back as he posted a screen-shot of an old Morgan tweet saying: "Messi's the greatest footballer ever, and Ronaldo's the second best. Any further debate is superfluous - I have spoken."
Lineker then added: "Hope Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't know you have spoken, Piers Morgan."

The 34-year-old has won five Champions League trophies, five Ballon d'Ors and a host of league titles in England, Spain and Italy.
Legit also reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has opened up about the only record he wants to get better than his biggest rival Lionel Messi.
The two footballing greats have ten Ballon d'Or awards between them in the last decade before Real Madrid's Luka Modric broke the monopoly last year.
