APC crisis: Court of Appeal court dismisses Oshiomhole’s lawsuit challenging his suspension

Although Adams Oshiomhole has ceased to be the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the former of Edo governor is having a tough time to save himself from the leadership mess he is embroiled in.

On Tuesday, June 30, Oshiomhole had a lawsuit challenging his suspension as chairman of the ruling party dismissed by an appeal court in Abuja.

According to Channels TV, a three-man panel which presided over the case headed by Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam unanimously dismissed the case.

The verdict was passed barely a week after the ruling party dissolved its national working committee which the former Edo governor and labour leader chaired.

Legit.ng recalls that Oshiomhole had run to the appeal court to challenge his suspension by the Edo state chapter of the APC, claiming that it was illegally executed.

But in a judgment also presided over by Justice Mohammed Mustapha and Justice Muazu Lamido, the case was dismissed because Oshiomhole backed down since he is no more the APC chairman.

Oshiomhole's counsel told the three presiding judges that his client is no longer interested in the case after declaring that he has accepted the resolution of the national executive council which set up a new caretaker committee to steer the party.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the re-election bid of Governor Godwin Obaseki has been given a massive boost after an alleged certificate forgery suit against him was dismissed on Monday, June 29.

The Edo state governor has been embroiled in different lawsuits surrounding his eligibility in the forthcoming election in the state in September.

Edobor Williams, Ugbesia Abudu Godwin and Amedu Dauda Anakhu in a suit with the number FHC/ABJ/CS/553/2020 had accused the governor of forging his Bachelor of Arts (BA) certificate in Classical Studies from the University of Ibadan.
