There is a renewed anxiety in Abia state over Okezie Ikpeazu's health with the governor still reportedly positive to the Covid-19 infection weeks after contracting the virus.
It would be recalled that Ikpeazu tested positive to the deadly infection as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control reported fresh 67 cases of Covid-19 in Abia state on Sunday, June 7.
Legit.ng also reported how the governor's chief press secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, said his principal was in high spirit and being monitored by the health operatives of the state after he went into self-isolation.
Emerging reports by Sahara Reporters, which this publication cannot authoritatively verify, claimed that despite a run of tests carried out on him, the governor is still positive and has been moved to the intensive unit.
Although Ikpeazu is reported to be in stable condition, the governor is said to be having dialysis as he struggles for his recovery from the virus which has no cure yet.
Abia presently has 302 cases of coronavirus as the total infection figure in Nigeria collectively hit 25,133 cases with 9,402 recovered and 573 deaths after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 566 new cases on Monday, June 29.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Governor Ikpeazu allayed apprehension generated by his health after testing positive to the coronavirus.
The governor, who spoke from isolation through his spokesman Enyinnaya Apollo, called for calm and promised to return back to duty in due course.
Apollo, who said he and the governor had a chat on Wednesday, June 10, disclosed that his principal is hale and healthy as health operatives in the state are managing his Covid-19 infection very well.
Writing on his Facebook page, Apollos stressed that the governor said to him that he would be back soon.
