Popular Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun aka Wizkid is still making huge waves in the music industry despite the fact that fans have been anticipating new material from him for several months.

Just recently, the singer emerged as a winner of a category at the recently concluded Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards, which took place on Sunday, June 28.

The music star won the BET Her Award for his contribution on Brown Skin Girl, a song which was featured on Beyonce’s The Lion King: The Gift album.

Following the new win, Wizkid has now become the most awarded African artist in the history of the BET Awards.

In 2012, the Joro crooner emerged as winner of the BET Best International Act: African award.

Wizkid also emerged winner of the same category in 2017.

Fans of the singer have now taken to social media to celebrate his win and again crown him as one of Africa’s biggest artiste.

In a related BET story, Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy made history at the just concluded virtual edition of the award show, after emerging as winner of the Best International Act. Burna Boy emerged as the winner of the same category in 2019, making him the first artiste to win the category twice in a row.

Away from the BET, Legit.ng previously reported that singer afrobeats superstar Wizkid set a new music record after he made a re-entry into the Social 50 chart curated by American entertainment media brand, Billboard.

The re-entry made the Joro crooner the only Nigerian to achieve such feat and he was also the only Nigerian that made it on the list.
