Out-of-job former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly in contract talks with Portuguese giant Benfica as the club are ready to make huge investment in the tactician.

Earlier reports from Portugal have it that the Lisbon based club won’t mind sacking current manager Bruno Lage who has been in charge for a year and half.

Lage guided the Águias to an unbelievable three points behind league leaders FC Porto in the Primera Liga table.

However, the 48-year-old Pochettino who has been out of job since leaving Premier League club Tottenham could now be moving to Benfica.

Although the former Southampton tactician wanted to remain in England, he has been out of job for eight months and according to Portuguese sports newspaper Record, Poch is in talks with Benfica.

Reports have it that he has remained in his North London home during the lockdown and will now be forced to consider the offer by the Portuguese club.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to keep Maurizio Pochettino, son of their former manager a new contract.

The 19-year-old was said to have joined the north London club in 2017 when his father was in charge of the club.

Although he is yet to be given a debut at the senior level, there are indications he could form part of Jose Mourinho's squad for the 2020-21 season.

The 19-year-old has been impressive since he moved to the club and it was one of the reasons he was handed a new long term deal.
