There is joy among members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) following the decision of the members of the sacked National Working Committee (NWC) to drop the idea of challenging their dismissal in court.
A National Executive Council meeting called by ousted self-proclaimed acting chairman, Victor Giadom and overseen by President Muhammadu Buhari, sacked the NWC on Thursday, June 25.
The Nation reports that Mallam Waziri Bulama, the National Secretary of the party in the sacked exco, revealed this on Friday, June 26.
Bulama said the sacked NWC have decided to put the interest of the party first and above their own. This, he said, means no going to court or challenging the process that led to their removal.
"We will cooperate with Buni’s committee which will organize a convention in the next six months,” Bulama said.
The selfless action of the sacked NWC members has been praised by Yekini Nabena, a deputy spokesperson in the ruling party.
Nabena rejected claims of a witch-hunt in the dissolution of the NWC. He urged all members to work together to rebuild the party.
“Perceived fears of a witchhunt is misplaced. The APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee headed by the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has been given a mandate by the APC NEC to reform our party and ensure unity across party ranks," Nabena said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng also reported that amid the lingering crisis rocking the APC, Waziri Bulama, said President Muhammadu Buhari’s position on 2023 is one of the factors fuelling the impasse in the ruling party.
Bulama, who is one of the members of the National Working Committee (NWC) dissolved by the National Executive Committee of the APC, said there are various people and groups in the party with different needs and aspirations.
