- Bruno Fernandes claims Ronaldo convinced him to join Manchester United
- The Portuguese star has named the Juventus striker as the best player in the world
- Fernandes also stated that he didn't have the opportunity to see Pele play
Bruno Fernandes followed the footpath of his team-mate in the Portuguese national team, Cristiano Ronaldo, by joining English Premier League club Manchester United.
The 25-year-old switched to the Old Trafford club from Sporting Lisbon in January and has once again said Ronaldo is the best player in the world having a slight edge over Argentina’s Lionel Messi, adding that he never saw Pele play.
Fernandes has been quite impressive since his arrival at the Old Trafford club scoring four goals and making another four assists.
He once disclosed how his chat with his compatriot convinced him to finally complete his £55million switch in January.
Fernandes told SoccerBible: "As a person from Portugal, every time someone mentions your name with Ronaldo, you just have to be grateful.
"I didn’t see Pele play so I can’t say he was the biggest player in the world. For me, Cristiano is the best I’ve ever seen.
"Cristiano is a Portuguese guy like me, I need to enjoy him. He is the best for me."
Fernandes recently hailed Ronaldo as his "idol" for giving him advice before sealing his move into Ole
He has also praised fellow team-mate and partner Paul Pogba for assisting him to settle when he arrived at the England club.
The Portuguese midfield sensation agreed to a contract deal that saw him switch to Premier League outfits Manchester United for a whopping £51 million in January.
Fernandes is currently offered a wage worth £100,000-a-week and £5million-a-year as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to bolster his squad with the 25-year-old's presence.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic has reportedly ignored interests from Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain.
Though the 30-year-old has a deal with the Old Lady until 2023, he is interested in joining Barcelona this summer.
Pjanic joined Juve from rival club AS Roma four years ago in a deal valued around €32 million and has gone ahead to win six major trophies including three Serie A titles.
