- Leon Balogun will play for Wigan Athletic for the next six months
- This comes after the Championship club announced his permanent transfer
- Balogun joined Wigan from Brighton where he failed to get regular games
English side Wigan Athletic have confirmed that Nigerian defender Leon Balogun has completed a permanent short-time transfer move to their side from EPL club Brighton.
Balogun found it hard to break into Brighton's first team which made the club send him out on loan to the Championship where he can find his rhythm.
Wigan explained on their official website that Balogun has joined them until the end of the 2019/20 season in the second division.
He joined Wigan in January and has so far played eight games for the side in their campaign in the second flight of English football.
“Leon has always been extremely professional and good to work with during my time at the club, but he was finding it hard to get the game time he would have liked.
“So the loan move to Wigan seemed to be a good move for everyone involved, and he has made a really positive impact there.
“We would like to thank him for his contribution over the last couple of years and we wish him all the best for the next chapter of his career,'' Brighton manager Graham Potter told the club’s official website.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Super Eagles winger Moses Simon expressed his desire to play for Premier League side Chelsea claiming that the Blues is his dream club.
Although the Nigerian forward is currently happy at French side Nantes, Simon will not hide the fact that he would love to play for the Stamford Bridge landlords.
He even recently signed a new four-year deal with Nantes which will make him stay at the side until 2024 unless the Blues come for his signing.
And since the age is on his side, Chelsea may be looking for his signature in future depending on the manager who will be in charge.
While speaking with Goal about his desire to play for Chelsea, Simon explained that John Mikel Obi and Didier Drogba made him love the Blues.
Simon was among the Super Eagles side that won bronze at the 2019 African Cup of Nations held in Egypt.
