Otunba Olusegun Agbalajobi, a former Ekiti state governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a strong warning following the crisis rocking the ruling party.
According to a report by The Nation, Agbalajobi who revealed this in a statement in Ado-Ekiti explained that if the alleged impunity by Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi, is not addressed the party may collapse.
The former guber aspirant went on to add that Fayemi should be held responsible for the internal crisis rocking the ruling party in Ekiti state.
Agbalajobi while noting that the crisis could tear the party apart, said that the quest of the leadership could be undermined to sustain its stronghold.
He alleged that the state chapter of APC under Fayemi's leadership was riddled with impunity, injustice, and disregard for the principle of internal democracy.
The APC chieftain further alleged that the governor’s actions and inactions within the party showed that he did not mean well for the APC. He added that Fayemi is running the chapter through his surrogates.
This development is coming hours after the governor of Ekiti state reacted to the media reports claiming he was barred from meeting President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday night, June 23.
Fayemi debunked the report which was originally published by The Nation, saying it was sponsored by Babafemi Ojudu, a special adviser to the president on political matters.
In a statement released by his media aide, Yinka Oyebode, Fayemi accused Ojudu of blackmail, saying he was the one who sponsored the report.
The report had claimed that Fayemi took the factional acting national chairman of the APC to the Aso Villa so that the president can endorse him for the position. It, however, said the attempt failed as Fayemi was allegedly barred from seeing the president.
Fayemi, who is chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), is said to be one of the anti-Oshiomhole's forces in the ruling party.
