Roberto Gagliardini missed a glaring chance on goal to deny Inter Milan all three points against Sassuolo as the Nerazzurri settled for a 3-3 draw.
The extraordinary game produced two late goals from both sides as Antonio Conte's men are now realistically out of the Serie A title race.
The away side had gone ahead within four minutes of the match as Francesco Caputo found the back of the net.

But Romelu Lukaku leveled matters three minutes before half time from a penalty and Cristiano Biraghi added another on injury time to make it 2-1 before heading into the break.
While Inter were 2-1 up, Lukaku was in search of his brace as Sassuolo keeper Andrea Consigli save the ball into Garliardini's path who just needed to tap-in from a yard but he slammed the ball against the post.
The last ten minutes produced three goals as Saussuolo drew level in the 81st minute from a spot-kick converted by their captain Domenico Berardi.
But Inter thought they had won the match in the 86th minute when Borja Valero made it 3-2.
The mid-table dwellers drew level again from a corner kick that was not properly cleared before the ball somehow found its way to Giangiacomo Magnani to make it 3-3 in high drama at the San Siro.
But Inter will be biting their nails for the extraordinary miss made by Gagliardini which would have closed the gap Lazio who lost to Atalanta to two points.
