APC crisis: Court orders Giadom to convene NEC meeting

- After weeks of internal unrest, the coast is now finally clear for Victor Giadom

After weeks of tough battle for the leadership mantle of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the coast is now clear for victor Giamdom as he has now been granted an order to convene the party's national executive council meeting.

Legit.ng recalls that Giadom, a factional chairman of the ruling party, has been embroiled in a ripple of controversy after he was pitched against some members of the APC NWC over leadership of the party following the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole.

NWC had initially settled for an "unavoidably absent" Senator Abiola Ajimobi, but the decision was kicked against by Giadom and his loyalists.

The former deputy national secretary declared himself as the acting chairman but the action came with a heavy sanction as he was suspended by his ward in Rivers state for disobedience to the party law as APC crisis hit a sharp curve.

Delivering its judgement on Wednesday, June 24, a high court sitting in Jos gave Giadom the go-ahead to convene the APC NEC meeting.

The judgement was delivered on the application by the chairman of Plateau APC Latep Dabang who is a member of the NEC.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that after weeks of internal fighting in the APC, President Muhammadu Buhari has finally made his position known by backing Giadom as acting national chairman of the party.

This was disclosed in a tweet by presidential spokesman Garba Shehu on Wednesday, June 24. According to Shehu, the president would attend the virtual meeting called by Giadom on Thursday, June 25.

Garba Shehu said the president took the position after receiving convincing advice on the position of the law as far as the party is concerned.

The president consequently declared that the law is on the side of Giadom as the acting national chairman.
