The governor of Kebbi state, Abubakar Bagudu, has revealed why his All Progressives Congress (APC) colleagues are pushing for a meeting of the National Executive Committee.

Bagudu who is the chairman of the APC Governors Forum said the progressive governors want NEC to hold in a bid to find lasting solutions to the crisis in the party, Premium Times reports.

Diverse reactions have also been trailing Governor Bagudu's statement on social media.

Elvis Okoruwa commented: "The entire nation is solidly behind you people, enough is enough for this selfish and evil politicians who thinks they can just pocket their citizens in their agbada pocket. Any of the NWC who refused to attend NEC meeting should be expelled and Edo APC primary should be cancelled."

"The only thing I need from them is just to bury Tinubu and Oshiomole politically so that they can feel the pain of betrayal with a big consequence," Sunday Okoli said.

Obas Emadia said: "This Bagudu fellow this thinks he and supporters can take control of the party which they contributed little or nothing to develop and as well control the people's votes? He must be joking. We're waiting for them."

Meanwhile, after weeks of internal fighting in the APC, President Buhari has finally made his position known by backing Victor Giadom as acting national chairman of the party.

This was disclosed in a tweet by presidential spokesman Garba Shehu on Wednesday, June 24. According to Shehu, the president would attend the meeting called by Giadom on Thursday, June 25.

Shehu said the president took the position after receiving convincing advice on the position of the law as far as the party is concerned.

Giadom has also reacted to his endorsement by President Buhari. According to him, the president's endorsement is for the good of the ruling party.

"The solution to these problems is attending the NEC meeting," Giadom said.

The development has also caused heated reactions from Nigerians on social media.

Obaseki to Oshiomhole: Stay clear of Edo APC primary
