Nigerian football star Ogenyi Onazi has rubbished reports that he had issues with former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel before he left the national team.
Before the 2018 World Cup in Russia, there were reports that Mikel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi were not in good terms and even had serious argument over issues not known to any.
It got to the point that Ogenyi Onazi and Mikel Obi were said not to talk to each other when they got to Russia for the 2018 World Cup.
Mikel Obi and Onazi played together in the midfield for the Super Eagles at the World Cup where Nigeria failed to qualify from group stages.
While speaking with Brila FM, Ogenyi Onazi stated emphatically that he never had issues with Mikel Obi stressing that he respects the former Chelsea star.
“First of all, I can’t have a misunderstanding with John Obi Mikel, because he’s like a mentor to me and it was a privilege for me to play with him in the national team.
“He’s the person who gave us the confidence that we can be who we want to be in Jos,'' Onazi told Brila.
Onazi who is eyeing a return to the Super Eagles added that many people wanted to distract them before the 2018 World Cup so as for Nigeria not to succeed.
