US singer, songwriter and actress Solange Knowles is celebrating her birthday on Wednesday, June 24. Solange, who is Beyoncé Knowles' sister, has turned 34 years of age.

Beyoncé is more popular than her when it comes to the world music scene but Solange is also just as talented as her big sis. Solange has said it time and again that she considers Beyoncé one of her role models.

At age 16, Solange released her first studio album titled Solo Star. It was released by Columbia Records and Music World on December 26, 2002, in Japan and January 21, 2003, in the US.
Second studio album
The star's second studio album, Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams - which she released in 2008 - deviated from the pop-oriented music of her debut to the Motown Sound of the 1960s and 1970s.
She won a Grammy for Best R&B Performance for her single titled Cranes in the Sky. It was a lead single in her 2016 album titled A Seat at the Table. It was her first number-one album in the US.
Solange has been ranked by Billboard as the 100th most successful dance artist of all time and in 2017 she was honoured with the Impact Award at Billboard Women in Music.
In 2004, Solange appeared in the comedy film, Johnson Family Vacation. She also made a guest appearance in the episode 'The Catch' of the sitcom One on One.
Solange has also starred as a cheerleading captain in the movie titled Bring It On: All or Nothing.
Solange married Daniel Smith on February 27, 2004, and they divorced in 2007. They have a son together named Daniel Julez J. Smith Jr.
On November 16, 2014, Solange married music video director Alan Ferguson. On November 1, 2019, Solange revealed on her Instagram account that she and Ferguson had separated earlier that year.
