Victor Giadom, the former deputy national secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been sacked from the ruling party by a state high court in Rivers.
Giadom was on Tuesday, June 23, barred from parading himself as a member or officer of the ruling party after the court upheld a suit filed against him by the duo of Okechukwu Chidor Ogbonna and Mac-Lords Peterson, The Nation reports.
The court ruled that since Giadom has been suspended by the State Executive Committee (SEC) of APC, Giadom is not allowed to take part in party activities until a determination of the substantive case.
Other respondents in the suit include Igo Aguma, the acting chairman of the APC in Rivers, Victor Giadom and Golden Chioma.
Giving the order, Justice C. Nwogu said: “An order of interim order is hereby made restraining the third defendant from parading himself as an officer or member… or exercising any right or privilege accruable to members….”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Giadom had reacted to the direct gubernatorial primary election in Edo state.
In a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) dated Monday, June 22, Giadom stated that since he did not inaugurate or support any governorship primary election committee said to be headed by Governor Hope Uzodinma, the poll cannot be conducted.
He, therefore, called on INEC not to approve results from the primary election and as such, totally disregard it.
In light of this, Giadom pointed out that the earlier date for the election had been postponed and that a new arrangement will be communicated to the commission.
Also, Giadom had described his suspension as a fluke and weak.
The squabbles in the APC leadership ran into a sharp curve on Sunday, June 21, as Giadom was suspended by the Rivers state chapter of the ruling party.
Giadom who imposed himself as the chairman of the party after Adams Oshiomhole's suspension was upheld by an appeal court amid ranging crises in APC, was sanctioned over allegations of gross disobedience to the APC constitution.
