Ogenyi Onazi has revealed how he helped Anthony Nwakaeme and John Mikel Obi secure contracts with his former club Trabzonspor.
The Super midfielder who left the Turkish giants in January 2020, to Denizlispor open up that the Turkish giants asked for his opinion before handing his countrymen their respective contracts.

“It was fantastic and before Tony came, the president told me that he was trying to sign this Nigerian player and he asked me if I know him,” he told www.brila.net.
“I told him Tony is a fantastic player and he should do whatever he can to bring in, so when he finally signed him and Tony scored two goals in his second game, the president came back to me and was so happy."
The former Lazio star added that Trabzonspor the president also inquired about Mikel from him after the former Super Eagles captain's contract ended with Championship side Middlesbrough.
“After the Afcon in Egypt, the president came back again and told me when he wants to bring Mikel and I should help them speak to him.”
“Then I discussed all night with Mikel to come over too and I was injured then, so hopefully when I recover we will play together, but unfortunately we did not spend much time together," Onazi added.
Nwakaeme has gone on to be an important member of Trabzonspor in their quest to lift their for Super Lig title in many years.
On the other hand, Mikel had his contract terminated after the Turkish club and authorities refused to suspend the league during the global pandemic.
