Edo election: APC releases primary results, reveals how Ize-Iyamu defeated other aspirants in 18 LGs

The battle of who becomes the standard-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the next governorship election in Edo state has been put to rest.

Legit.ng reports that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu on Monday, June 22, defeated two other governorship aspirants in the race, Pius Odubu and Osaro Obazee, to become the party's candidate.

Ize-Iyamu's emergence has, therefore, put the re-election bid of Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, in a tight corner despite his defection to the main opposition in the country - the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

While Ize-Iyamu polled a total of 27,838 votes Odubu and Osaro Obazee got 3,776 and 2,751 votes respectively.

The Nation, therefore, gave the analysis of how Ize-Iyamu defeated his contenders in all the local governments in the state during the party's direct primary on Monday, June 22, in Edo state.

A) Edo South senatorial district:

1. lkpoba-Okha LGA – Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu = 1,581. Osaro Obazee = 67. Dr. Pius Odubu = 99.

2. Oredo LGA – Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu = 1,902. Osaro Obazee = 308. Dr. Pius Odubu = 67.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the governors of the north-central states in a closed-door met with the chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, at the State House, Abuja.

It was reported that the meeting started at about 4 pm with the governors of Kogi, Yahaya Bello, Niger, Sani Bello, Kwara, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Sule, and Plateau, Simon Lalong in attendance.
