- The suspended national deputy secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Victor Giadom, has called for the resolution of the crisis rocking the party
- Giadom had recently declared himself the acting national chairman of the party after Oshiomhole's suspension
- The NWC of the party led by former governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi, later suspended Giadom and declared his position vacant
Following his suspension as the national deputy secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the embattled self-acclaimed acting national chairman of the party, Victor Giadom has fired back at his critics.
The Nation reports that Giadom said on Monday, June 22, during a press conference that the only way out of the on-going leadership crisis in the party is a convocation of the National Executive Council (NEC).
Legit.ng gathered that while speaking with newsmen at the party's national secretariat, Abuja, the embattled APC leader said it was high time the party was handed over to higher organ since the lingering issues are beyond the National Working Committee (NWC).
Asked what will be the way forward for the party, Gaidom said: “I have always insisted at the beginning of this crisis that the only way to resolve this issue is to surrender this party to a higher organ which is the best.
“And I am still insisting that the only way to get ourselves out of this mess is to convoke a NEC meeting. That is the only route out, I have the feeling that there is no other route to have peace and justice in this party except through a NEC meeting that has been my decision.
“There has to be an NEC meeting. NEC is the higher organ above the NWC, I do not see why they are afraid. You have to surrender this organ so that the right would be done and every other decision that has been taken by the leadership would be ratified by NEC. So if we do not have a NEC meeting, it would be difficult to resolve this crisis."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the governors of the north-central states in a closed-door meet with the chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, at the State House, Abuja.
It was reported that the meeting started at about 4 pm with the governors of Kogi, Yahaya Bello, Niger, Sani Bello, Kwara, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Sule, and Plateau, Simon Lalong in attendance.
The reason for the meeting may not be unconnected with the crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress over the choice of governorship candidate in Edo state.
