According to Jerman’s granddaughter, Jamila Garret, the 91-year-old man started as a cleaner in 1957 under the Eisenhower administration before he got his promotion during the Kennedy presidency.

Jamila added that Jerman built relationships in the White House that were helpful to him throughout his career.

The granddaughter also said that he was a family man who so much gave himself to service to others.

It should be noted that the late dedicated worker’s photo with Barack and Michelle Obama was published inside the first lady’s memoir, Becoming.
