- The leadership crisis bedevilling APC has taken another dimension
- Salihu Mustapha has come fore with a clarification on the controversy surrounding Victor Giadom
- The APC northeast vice-chairman said contrary to the NWC's position, Giadom did not resign
The crisis striking All Progressive Congress (APC) took a bend turn as a top chieftain of the party insisted that Victor Giadom did not resign his position as the deputy national secretary.
Speaking against the position of the party's NWC, Salihu Mustapha who is the northeast vice-chairman, said Giadom was granted a waiver when he contested the deputy governor position of Rivers in 2018.
Legit.ng notes that Mustapha's claim came in amid speck of dust raised by the national chairmanship of APC following the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole.
It would be recalled that following an Appeal Court verdict restraining Oshiomhole from acting in the capacity of the national chairman, there has been a ripple of controversies as Giadom declared himself the acting chairman of the party.
Giadom, a close associate of transport minister, Rotimi Amaechi, was later hit by shock as the APC NWC announced Senator Abiola Ajimobis a the party's acting chairman in Oshiomhole's absence, arguing that Giadom had resigned his position when he wanted to contest in Rivers.
Mustapha scolded the APC NWC and admonished it to recognise the court position affirming Giadom as the party's acting national chairman.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Victor Giadom, the Rivers politician who recently declared himself national chairman of the governing but troubled All Progressives Congress, has been suspended.
The Nation stated this in its report in the evening of Sunday, June 21, saying Giadom was suspended over allegations of gross disobedience of the APC constitution.
The former deputy national secretary was hit with the sanction by the party's branch in Rivers state.
