Prince Uche Secondus on Friday, June 19, referred to Governor Godwin Obaseki's defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as simply an act of God.
The PDP national chairman said that the opposition party comprises law-abiding persons who recognise intellect and potential for progress.
Secondus maintained that the Edo governor's entry into the party is not a product of mistake, Vanguard reports.
He added: “There is nothing to be arrogant about power for anyone who knows God and here in PDP, we are guided by this fact.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that some APC bigwigs in Edo who were said to be loyalists to Governor Godwin Obaseki have said that they are planning on defecting to any party.
In fact, addressing journalists on Friday, June 19, Oshawo Stephen, the chairman of APC, Ward 10, Etsako West local government area said all the executive members would continue to retain their membership of the ruling party.
Stephen called on the public to disregard any report of defection by executive members to other parties in the state.
Also, Legit.ng reported that Things were truly moving smoothly for Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state who recently defected to the PDP.
The latest PDP catch was preparing himself for screening ahead of the much-talked-about governorship election, the same process that led to his disqualification in the APC.
According to Austin Akobundu, the PDP's national organising secretary, the screening exercise for Obaseki will be conducted on Saturday, June 20, in Abuja.
Akobundu said that the"committee is mandated to screen all aspirants for the upcoming 2020 governorship election in Edo.”
Moreover, hours after announcing his defection from the APC, the Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu were granted a waiver by the PDP to contest for elective office on its platform.
Obaseki said he has become a member of the PDP in Edo state and in Nigeria generally, amid cheers and chanting of "4+4".
