According to the Col David Imuse-led faction who recommended the expulsion, alleged anti-party activities would no longer be condoned.

“Obaseki, Ojezua and some other persons have gone to court, in violation of Article 21, Sub-section D5 of the APC’s Constitution in many court cases at the Edo State High Court and the Federal High Court.

“They have shopped for injunctions and rulings to circumvent the processes of law and the provisions of our party’s constitution, in defiance of democratic norms," Imuse said.

Added to this, a chieftain of the APC in Bayelsa, Perekeme Kpodoh, had warned against the rising number of senatorial aspirants from an area of the state.

Kpodoh described the increasing number of the aspirants from the Ekeremor axis of the state ahead of the Bayelsa West senatorial by-election as provocative. According to him, it is just necessary for the aspirants to respect the principle of zoning in the district so as to avoid any chaos in the Sagbama and Ekeremor areas of the state.
