- David Luiz's contract with Arsenal expires on June 30
- The Brazilian, amid criticism, is willing to stay at the Emirates and wants a 2-year deal
- His agent shed more light on the contract situation and when it will likely to be solved
Amid a nightmare return to action for Arsenal centre-back David Luiz, the player’s agent broke his silence on his future.
Luiz only has less than a fortnight left on his contract and after the horror show against Manchester City on Wednesday, June 17, rumors were rife that he is set for the exit door.
The 33-year old’s agent Luiz’s agent Kia Joorabchian leapt to his client’s defence as he revealed the contract situation will be solved by the end of the week.

“The contract situation has dragged on not because of any reason, not because of the will of either Arsenal or David to finalise, but really because of the situation that occurred with this pandemic,” he said on the White & Sawyer show.
According to Joorabchian, Luiz was a professional who simply had a very bad game on Wednesday night.
He is looking at June 22 as the latest date when the Brazilian defender’s future will be decided.
“I spoke with David last night. These things happen in a game, and I’m not defending any situation but David is a guy who has won 20 trophies in his career, including the Premier League, the FA Cup, the Europa League and the Champions League,” he went on.
According to The Sun, next Tuesday is the deadline for the Gunners to seal Luiz's future and reports suggest he wants a new two-year deal but the club is only willing to extend his contract for another 12 months.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that David Luiz took full responsibility for Arsenal's defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad on Wednesday, June 17, as the Premier League finally resumed after more than 100 days.
Luiz was sent off early in the second half after bringing down Riyad Mahrez in the penalty area.
The Brazilian’s sending off summed up his error-strewn return to action and he was bold enough to admit his role in the crushing defeat.
The 33-year-old’s contract runs out in one month but he insisted coach Mikel Arteta still has plans for him.
