The chairman of the Kaduna caucus at the National Assembly, Senator Uba Sani, on Thursday, June 18, led his colleagues on a courtesy visit to Kaduna state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, at the state Government House.
Legit.ng's regional reporter in Kaduna, Nasir Dambatta, reports that the federal lawmakers resolved to cooperate in securing the state and making it a shining example of inclusive governance and development.
Shedding light on the meeting, Sani who said he was elated by the show of solidarity and offer of sustainable cooperation, praised members of the caucus for being responsive and accountable to the people of Kaduna state.
"He (Elrufai) also commended the members for remaining united and focusing on the welfare and security of the people in spite of political differences," he said.
The governor and the caucus, according to Sani, agreed to jointly initiate bills that would benefit the people of Kaduna state, as well as intensively and extensively mobilise Kaduna citizens to participate in constitutional and electoral review processes.
"Town hall meetings will be organized to distill the views and concerns of the people. The inputs of citizens will be properly packaged and forwarded to the National Assembly as Kaduna state's contribution to the search for a better constitutional and electoral framework for our country," he said.
Governor El-Rufai urged the caucus to sustain its strategic support for the government and the people of the state and to work in synergy with the government to attract investments and ensure the welfare and security of the people.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Sani saluted heroes and heroines of the struggle against military authoritarianism and flagrant violation of the fundamental rights and freedoms of the people in Nigeria.
It was reported that in a statement to commemorate Democracy day, Senator Sani said that the heroes and architects of modern Nigerian democracy who paid the ultimate price to entrench an enduring democracy in Nigeria included the late Chief MKO. Abiola and late Chief Gani Fawehinmi SAN.
He also acknowledged Governor El-Rufai's strides in Kaduna state, saying that he has remained unwavering in his determination to make the state a model of progress and development and is deserving of the people's total support.
