The best was saved for the last as Asensio's first-time assist to Benzema produced an incredible first-touch with his right and volleyed the ball home with his left giving Jasper Cillessen in goal no chance.

And Zidane was amazed on the touchline with the exquisite finish from the Frenchman who became Real's fifth-highest scoring player with 243 goals.

Benzema also becomes the fourth player in the club's history to score 20 or more goals in the last eight or nine seasons as he joins Cristiano Ronaldo, Alfredo Di Stefano and Raul Gonzalez.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Real Madrid vs Valencia match lived up to its pre-match razzmatazz as both teams battled hard right from the first blast of the whistle, but it was the hosts that claimed all three points.

Rodrigo thought he had opened the scoring for the visitors in the 21st minute, but VAR reversed the goal citing an offside against Maximilliano Gomez.

Real Madrid pressed on upfront with Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema combining well to threaten the Valencia defence but somehow they could not put the ball at the back of the net and both teams went into the break 0-0.
